FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IDD Therapy® on the Accu-SPINA® System Enters the Chinese Market
Atlanta, GA—North American Medical Corporation, America's preeminent manufacturer of spinal-care medical devices, is pleased to announce that it has signed a long-term exclusive contract with Beijing-based Suncent Medical, Inc. to distribute its Accu-SPINA® device throughout China.
"I found out about North American Medical while searching for solutions for the non-surgical cure of neck and back pain after seeing the need for such treatment in China," says Jay Zhang, Suncent's General Manager. "I read articles and reviews on the Internet and talked to friends who had knowledge of the system and its treatment process, then came to believe that this is what I've been looking for....As of now, there are not many rehab centers and hospitals in China, and there are even fewer that focus on spinal cure and rehab. But the number of patients in need of such a service—especially a non-intrusive method—has been increasing."
Zhang says he intends to place North American Medical's Accu-SPINA® devices in Chinese hospitals as well as private medical clinics. In addition to being a distributor, he says he is also seeking authorization as a training provider for IDD (Intervertebral Differential Dynamics) Therapy®, which has shown clinical success rates of up to 92 percent* when used on the Accu-SPINA® device. Zhang says that Suncent will focus their marketing on medical shows and showroom presentations as well as Internet outreach.
"We would like to cover China, because we have been in the Chinese medical business since 1994," Zhang says. "We have well-established connections and outreach in this market, as well as ties with the healthcare administration in China."
"We are very pleased to have become associated with such a reputable, high-integrity distributor with which to enter the Chinese market," said Carlos Becerra, North American Medical's CEO. "We plan on continuing to build Accu-SPINA® here in the U.S., but as market demand grows in China, we look forward to initiating expanded machine production in China for the local market. China is one of the world's fastest-growing markets. We believe Suncent Medical is an ideal partner with whom to work together toward making IDD Therapy® a mainstay for meeting the vast Chinese consumer healthcare needs."
China's medical-device market is currently the world's eleventh-largest. In 2007, China's imports of medical equipment reportedly accounted for over 5.1 billion U.S. dollars. As China's distributor for GE imaging products, as well as Draeger Medical and Covidien (Tyco) products, Suncent currently has over 55 employees and boasts annual sales of over $22 million.
